More than 500 people supported our crowdfunding campaign in March 2020

“On one freezing night in February 2019, I was walking home when I passed a man who was lying on the
street, covered only by a thin sheet. My heart went out to him. I’d already taken a few steps when

something stopped me. I had to go back.

For a long time, I listened to him and understood his situation.

One of the toughest problems he faces on a daily basis is that he has nowhere safe to store his things,
and that’s how the idea of Makom started to take shape in my mind.”

Our Lockers

These lockers help us to connect and build trust with people experiencing homelessness, and are designed to help relieve the stress caused by constant worrying about where to store their belongings.

By placing these lockers in a central, open, well-lit location monitored by CCTV, they are safe to use, can be seen from all around, and blend into the urban fabric, reducing the chance of vandalism.

Our Vision

Helping people experiencing homelessness, with empathy and without judgment.

We believe that everyone can get back on their feet, and we work tirelessly to help people receive appropriate benefits in order to achieve this.

Cooperation is the key to success, so we collaborate with Jerusalem’s existing municipal ecosystem.

“I was on the street for 6 years and barely spoke to a soul. I felt completely alone. Then Eviatar and the Makom team started coming to my corner every week for four months. They helped me get a stipend, a cell phone with a SIM card, food and clothes. Now I’m sleeping in a shelter and, God willing, I’ll soon be moving into an apartment. The team and the social worker help me look for a job so I can stay on my feet. They got to me just in time.”
